Paris Fashion Week Spring 2012 Couture Fashion Show Review: Chanel

The Chanel Spring 2012 Couture Runway Show took place in the extraordinarily extravagant Grand Palais on January 24, 2012 during Paris Fashion Week.

Chanel’s latest collection was comprised of 61 day and evening women’s wear looks. Head designer of the Fashion House of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, reinvented his ideas of how a sophisticated woman and youthful hipster should dress in this day and age. The color that was a constant trend throughout the entire collection was blue, specifically 150 monochromatic variations of blue. Elvis’ “Blue Moon” and ” Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” Album, were described by Lagerfeld as the inspirational reasoning behind the tones of blue.

The Grand Palais was transformed into a “PAN AM-like” modern airplane installation setting, for the latest Chanel presentation. A detailed runway carpet, cockpit and very appropriate bar cart prop completed the look of the polished venue. “The sky is the limit” was undeniably the attitude of this upbeat futurist extravaganza.

250 guests enjoyed the cleverly decorated commercial space shuttle arena, in addition to the latest trends Chanel has to offer, which included: pockets, collars on jackets, full sleeves, jeweled apparel, lengthy skirt hems, decorated chemises, pleat detailed pieces, cabochons, PVC petals, low waist-line dresses, pushed up sleeves, developed fabrics, long lean silhouettes, ankle length dresses, as well as crystals, bugle beads, and sequins embellishments.
